Phil Asher was very average, not really a house set at all, more an eclectic mix of tunes. He did play some classic tracks (Chaka Kahn, Steve Miller Bank, Ian Dury), but it was extremely varied. He didn't seem to be making much of an effort either to be fair, sitting behind his CDJ's for the majority of the night. Billy Scurry and Brothers on the Slide were excellent though.

Seems to be the way for allot of DJs that play the Sugar club.

I love the venue and have had some great nights there, but I think a section of the crowd go for the venue as oppose to who's playing and maybe that's picked up by whoever's playing.

He was super at Oxegen & the Odeon earlier this year tho.......

Yeah I think thats probably true, 90% of the venue is dedicated to seating as well, with a very small make shift dancefloor at the front, its hardly the most up for it environment for a DJ in fairness, its not a purpose built club. But I've had some good nights seeing live bands play there, Mohagani records night was good and Amp Fiddler was fab there too, as a venue I think its great to see a live act/singer, but as far as DJ's go its probably not that great. Crawdaddy is a superb venue though, I saw Mr.Fingers there in April and it was the best night out I've ever had in Dublin. Looking forward to going to Jon Cutler there, excellent producer.
