Story all? Tis been a bit quite around these here parts. Just checking who's heading to Spirit to catch the man in action on Sunday?
Looks like a new genre has been developed too and is going to be show cased by Paolo Topaz in the Mind Room on the same night "tribal'ectrobreaks80stechfunk"???
Sounds good to me all the same.
I for one will be looking forward to hearing Dublin's hardest working DJ at the helm of his own long overdue night. I think Barry Dempsey is goin to be down there too
So who is doing what this weekend? |

Considering going, how much is it in? And are many tickets on the door etc?
And is Paolo Topaz the new alias for sunday night dj Paul Taylor?
And one more Q...what does felix play these days? |

I would have thought that Spirit would be against your principles Zin?..
Surely it will be full of "18 year old scumbags" just like the Redbox when Dave Clarke is playing??? |

Chester what a pleasant surprise!
To be honest the only time Ive been to Spirit on a weekend dance night was one Saturday (last trinity ball night) when i ended up in there and Jon Carter happened to be playing. From memory crowd seemed to be law abiding and friendly BUT thats not to say my opinion wont change if I go there on sunday...dont usually go to Spirit cos of the extortionate entrance fee...
While were on the topic of Sunday, is there any other gigs worth checking out? And does anyone have the answers to my Q's above? |

| its not too bad when you consider that if it was in the redbox the tickets would be the same or if not close to the same price its not too bad |

No its terrible when you consider I paid e20 into TBMC to see him last time, and If memory serves correct he played the Redbox a few years ago and It wouldnt have been more than 15 or 20...this Spirit place reminds me of the Temple when they used to charge 25 punts to see Picotto
e28 is far too much for a club that ends before 3am |

oh well
what can ya do. if ya like a dj and you really want to see them ya have to pay it. it is a bit steep but it could be worse. I think Spirit is a nice club aswell- nice layout than the TBMC and Redbox so i'm lookin 4ward to it anyway |

As would I be If I had a ticket but i dont have e28 to be throwing around unfortunately. My argument isn't at you yvo but at the promoters who run these nights. Dublin isnt exactly full of decent clubs and Spirit happens to be a really nice one layout wise, but they are distancing themselves from mainstream dance music lovers like myself by charging nearly e30 to see one single DJ...If they were running some bank holiday special with 3 or 4 DJs that started earlier then Id gladly pay 30 yoyos
While Im on the subject the promotion of this gig ( or any spirit gigs) hasnt been great - I only found out it was on the other day from a girl in work, and she thought it was on Friday |

No DJ in the world on there own, is worth paying that much for, but unfortunatly if you want to see these guys you are left with very little choice, which is just sad really because we are all been ripped off. I suppose if you can afford fair enough. I really want to see him, but i just dont think i can bring myself to forking out that much cash, to a night club that is'nt even that good.
I saw him a few years back in USD, in the new compex as it was at the time for |

So I'll take that as one yes and one no for Spirit then.
I'm not too keen on the price either but where there is a will there is a way.
Paul Taylor = Paolo Topaz. Barry Dempsey and DJ Karen under one roof with Felix. That sounds like good value to me.
