I loved the way they came out 3 times!!!

1st - normal
2nd - robots!!
3rd - Luminous green!!

Savage!!

Would love to know what the 4 of them run on the laptops..

Does one look after beats, one on melody? etc...

Really enjoyed their performance!

I'm not so sure how live it all is to be honest. I have a CD of their's recorded live from a gig in the States, and I went to see them in the Olympia, and both sets were identical to the electric picnic set, same order of the tracks and the same reproduction note for note. I'm not sure if they do actually play it all live, but irrespective of that, its a stunning show and the tracks they play are all classics (autobahn, the model, trans euro express, etc). I think the guy on vocals does that live, but not so sure about the music, I strongly suspect that they don't produce it live. It was my second time to see them in less than a year, so I wasn't bowled over, but if I hadn't seen them before, I would have thought it was amazing. They didn't really create much of an atmosphere (as their music isn't really that atmospheric). I thought Royskopp were pretty poor before them too, didn't stay long though as Amp Fiddler was playing in the Crawdaddy tent.

Could not agree MORE - it was just a shame that he clashed with Kraftwerk - to be honest I got far more of Garnier - which was a bit silly considering they were only on for an hour-ish.

Excellent day all round, sans doute!

it sounds the same, but its all layered differently

if you listen carefully some of them go off playing different bits and then come back in again

so it was the same setlist, but slightly different sounds from the olympia gig

Well thats comforting to know! To be honest, I think as German's they probably wouldn't be lazy about playing electronic music live, I just thought that the sets sounded very alike to the previous one's I'd heard. They were still outstanding though, the highlight of Electric Picnic for me without a doubt.

One of the special things about Garnier was that he didn't come out and play two hours of whopping techno and naff classics.

Instead, he worked things up nice and smooth after Ben Watt, and gradually got dirtier. Worked things just as he'd work one of his normal 6 or 8 hour sets. Quality.

Disappointed I missed the men in the Green suits... but i'd say they play solitaire on their laptops anyway...

Absolutely on Garnier - there is actually no telling what he could have played from that enormous repetoire of his and the fact that he made a real effort - and seemed to ebe enjoying himself alot too - was just so engaging - Watt was in himself a total revelation, as I've said elsewhere on the site. Garnier's last 40 mins was just animal!

i have had similar experiences with a couple of live groups like that,i seen basement jaxx and chemical brothers twice in the space of a couple of months and there sets were completly identical.Same with orbital, there sets are always the same, doubt any of it is done live, not that im complaining though

Yeah Garnier was just mind-blowingly unbelieveable. Seen him several times but never in a tent on a field in the middle of Ireland! His set was always gonna build and build, even more so when he got the extra half hour cos Vitalic cancelled last-minute (which was a terrible shame)

Theres just not a lot more that can be said about Laurent Garnier that hasnt already been said. Anyone who didnt think his last hour was brilliant should try going to Westlife gigs instead because techno just isnt for you.
