This is the second instalment in the Renaissance 3D series, which was initiated by Satoshi Tomiie some months ago.
I have to admit here from the start that I am not a Faithless fan. I find theme a little dull and boring. Now granted they had some great moments in the mid nineties but I feel they should have left it at that. Never the less their popularity as producers, DJ's and a live act doesn't seem to have waned in any way. The bottom line here is if you are a Faithless fan you will like this. If you are not you won't.
The compilation is broken up into three CD's each covering a different concept with one for the Studio, the Club and of course Home.
The Studio CD starts with "Faithless - Salva Mea" followed by a barley recognisable remix of "Donna Summer's - I Feel Love". All the tracks on this first CD or either produced or remixed by Faithless themselves which lends itself to their distinctive sound. The problem here is there is only so much one can take of Maxi Jazz's flat crap, rap vocals. Again if you like Faithless you will particularly like CD 1.
CD 2 is more current and has lot of what is hot in club land at the moment. Only problem here is the programming of the tunes and quality of the mixing lets it down. Mixed by a different DJ it could have been an alright addition to the CD.
"Wonderland Avenue - White Horse", "Coldcut feat Robert Owens" and "Coburn - Give Me Love" are the pick of the tracks here. What on earth "Deep Dish feat Stevie Nicks - Dreams" is doing here would make one wonder was there a push on to get this track featured because it is utter rubbish?
Finally CD 3 gives the compilation some reprieve with an eclectic mix of some Grime, Dance Hall, Rap and obscure Eighties numbers. Best tune on this is Mike Skinners side line project "LSK" with the very funny tune "The Takeover".
There is some good educational material here as you find out where Dr Dre got his riff for California Love along the way.

It's a take it or leave it CD…personally I would leave it. One sure thing is that with the Faithless name attached to this, it will sell by the bucket load!
