Poor old Darren Emerson has a bit of a reputation for being a little hit and miss these days. Reports of inconsistency with his live DJ sets, along with a few middle of the road releases and mix albums have not done him any favours of late. That is up until now. I am glad to say he is definitely back on form with this killer Electro double CD mix featuring Magik Johnson (nothing to the basketball player I have been assured). All of what is tearing up the cooler dance floors in Ibiza and here at home is featured on this mix. It has a very distinctive sound to it, which has managed to avoid the cheesy side of this genre, although the second CD is maybe a little more accessible.
There does appear to be a little bit of nepotism going on here with some artists/remixers featuring several times across the two CD's. D.Ramirez and Magik himself being the biggest offenders. Nothing wrong with this I suppose as their input is some of the better stuff on show. Everybody who is anybody on the Electro side of things gets out to play, with tracks from Paul Jackson, Chelonis R. Jones, Trentmoller and DJ T. This has been a constant player in the car since I got it and is sparking a lot of interest from my passengers, who were quite surprised when they found out who was behind it.
