DJ Jimmy Bell - Biography

My love for house music finally took hold on my life when I was 16, when I borrowed some money to buy my first set of Technis 1210s, which took me almost two years to pay back!   But was worth every penny.  I felt that I wanted to make people happy with music and knew my talent would take me where I wanted to be.  My job is to create the best atmosphere for the people..building up my sets with emotion and passion to unite everybody for the love of dance music.

A dance floor doesn't tear itself up ……               DJ Jimmy Bell

Music Style

Jimmy specialises in only the best chunky US house music with European influences.  His sets range from laidback house to deep electronic grooves and can play all his way through house.

History

Jimmy was born in Manchester, UK in 1979 and his DJ career began in Manchester UK 1996 where he started organizing college parties, hosting various house music events at different locations in and around Manchester.  These proved to be a huge success and he gained his first weekly residency, playing in the city at the trendy 'Citrus Bar' where he stayed for 2 years, playing soulful house.

He began to spread his talent to various other clubs in the city including - Prague 5, Elemental and Essential - hosting dance music events with various friends which gained him recognition for his musical ability.  This lead him to become resident at a larger house music club in the city called Emporia where he stayed for three years.

In 1999 he teamed up with two guys from Manchester (DJ Sony Miguel and Alex West) and an up-and-coming producer from Chicago USA named DJ Swank, whom he met at the Miami Music Confrence.  They all became great friends and decided to join together under the name 'The Garage Council' and started working immediatley on producing house music together.  The Garage Council soon recieved bookings in Manchester and Chicago (USA).

Jimmy visited the Amsterdam Dance Event for the first time in the year 2002, where he began making connections with the Dutch dance scene.  He was spotted by a famous female DJ named 100% Isis (Magma Agency) and she made his first bookings at the Supperclub in Amsterdam.  In July 2003 he organised 'The Garage Council's' first album release party at the Supperclub which proved to be a huge success with talent throughout Europe DJing at the event.  The local Supperclub residents (DJ Juur and Roelove) offered Jimmy a monthly slot and he still is playing monthly which a mixture of his own guests playing alongside him.  He has since DJ'd at the Supperclub's Italian establishment in Rome (Italy) and in San Fransisco for The Garage Council where he made his succsessfull 'West Coast' debut in November 2005. (He has since been booked to play again in Feb 2006)

Jimmy met an Italian Dj named Marco Di Marzo in the summer of 2003 through mutual friends, and booked him to play a gig at the Supperclub with The Garage Council.  This led to a great friendship and subsequently Jimmy recived several bookings in Naples, Italy and was the Special Guest DJ for a DJ magazine party in November 2003 at Club History.  He returned to the club to bring in the NYE 03/04 in style playing a mixture of uplifting house and deep grooves. They have since worked together in New York City for The Canal Rooms hosting Deep House music events.

In 2003 Jimmy met a local 'Manchester Legend' DJ, Nick Hussey, who helped him develop his skills producing house music and they now work together under the name of 'The Stylusouls'.  Recently on a DJ trip to New York City they met up with two film producers working on the movie 'It's All Gone Pete Tong' and were asked to provide tracks to promote the movie on the movie's worldwide websites. Now after 2 years in the studio 'The Stylusouls' have already been gaining interest from several house music labels. In the last few years Jimmy has played all over Europe and the USA, and now feels established enough to make the best sounds in house music.

The Garage Council now consists of seven DJs from the US and Europe who work together producing records, remixing and DJ bookings.  Watch out for 'THE GARAGE COUNCIL' House Parties in 2006….

Press + Media Reviews -

"The first Garage Council album is full of monster monster Funkzilla grooves, and some are already gaining interest from the likes of Music For Freaks.  Believe.  This scene might be getting tired for some old hacks and jocks for others the adventure is just beginning."

Extract from(DJ Magazine September 2003)

"The club soon swelled with humans - of the extremely attractive, olive-skinned Italian variety.  Jimmy Bell stepped up to the decks, fusing some of the Garage Council tracks with deep US and UK cuts.  The dance floor lapped it up....  "

"What made me really appreciate Jimmy" said Roelove "was that the DJs in Holland always push their sound loud, but Jimmy made the people dance with very little volume..."
